A more complete family photo that I have in my PC... These were taken during my sister's wedding in 2006...

The row at the back are my family members. The first from left is my eldest uncle, followed by third uncle, my bro, my mum, my sister and my brother-in-law. You must be wondering where am I? I also dunnoe.. maybe busy socializing with my friends.... I missed my eldest uncle dearly... It has been 2 years since he left us... He was so fragile but yet, he gave us the great joy everytime he visits us. He was like a father to me...

Oh ya, the ones sitting down are - (From the left) my third uncle's girlfriend, my ex-neighbour and her son, YongJie, followed by my kindergarten friend's parents. My mum ended befriending my kindergarten friend's parents instead of me with my classmate. Strange isn't it?

These are my immediate family members. My youngest nephew was still in the tummy of my sis-in-law... I hope to bring an impact to everyone's life here.

Happy 6th year old, Angel!

Today marks the 43rd birthday of Singapore and it also is the 6th birthday of my niece Angel! It is so amazing to see how she has grown from a baby to a cute little gal. She is the closest to me, simply because on the day that she was born, I decided to go back to God (after backsliding for a period of 4-6 months). She is my precious angel indeed. Perhaps, that is also why I am very attached to this little gal.

Here's Angel giving a happy smile... :p

Timothy Tan, the little guy who gives very charming smile at times... and he loves to sing... haha... but no one knows what he's singing at times...

My bro and his youngest son...

The eldest nephew... very active and mischievous... but I guess that he will really be good in sports in he future...

The Tan family... Seriously, it is not easy to have 3 kids at home especially living expenditure is so high in Singapore... Hope that the kids will grow to be wiser each day.. yesh!!

Time without family can be a torture sometimes

I just come to realized that my lack of time spent with my family is causing a lack in my life. I realised that when I am staying outside and not spending quality time at home actually brings me to understand the importance of family in my life. It is not a need or a want. It is just something that you cannot live without. With a family, my life then will be complete.

I cannot imagine how life could be for the orphans or kids from single-parent families. How are they coping with their emotions, their lack in their lives? As much as the children need to their families with them, the more they will need God in their lives. Only with the God-factor, then will the lack be met.

"Lord, may I pray that all the lost ones will come to know you really soon... really really soon..."

生日快乐!

Yesterday was my mum's birthday. I celebrated with her last Thurs when I took leave to bring her for an eye check-up at the hospital. Thank God that her eyes were ok and nothing much except some kind of infection.

Brought her to Novena Square for a Korean meal. Actually, the meal was quite good. Just that she is overwhelmed by all the Kimchis etc.

So yesterday, I dropped her a sms to wish her happy bdae. The sms goes like this:

妈咪,祝你生日快乐。愿你天天开心,满怀欢笑。希望你能快些认识耶稣。- 燕燕

Then about 30 minutes later, I received a sms reply from my mum! Well, my mum has been picking up a lot on her sms-ing skills. Her sms goes like this:

女儿,早安,感谢你的祝福。愿主耶稣带给你, 幸福,快乐,顺利。 妈咪爱你。

I think I almost fainted at my desk when I saw this sms. My mum has never been so mushy before in her life. lol...

But serious, I want her to know the Lord Jesus soon. No time to waste! Pray for her with me ba!!

My Childhood

It was an interesting day today. My shoulders and back were aching very badly and for the most obvious reason, I haven't slept well for the longest period of my life. Thus, my face wasn't showing the best expression after all. And my poor boss, thought that I was moody because of work, asked me if i was ok and even volunteered to go for breakfast with me, so as to fill my hungry body. haha...

Actually, I am really thankful to God for my boss. She is not just a boss or supervisor to me. She is like an elder sister to me. She listens to me, hears me out, identifies with me and share with me her experience. I love to tell her things about my life. I share with her a lot of stuff... And especially today, during lunch, I shared with her about my childhood.

My family has always been not doing well financially. My dad was a gambler, idler, smoker... He used to be working as a newspaper despatch and my bro will have to go to the one of the shophouse nearby to sleep as he need to help my dad in slotting the newspapers sections. But at the shophouse, there wasn't any quiet corner at all. There was constant mahjong games going on and of course my bro cannot rest at all. And he was only in his primary 7-8. I remembered this very vividly because there were nights that I was there as well, at Coronation Plaza, helping my dad out too. As I grew older, I wasn't able to understand why my dad did not consider the well-being of his kids.

And of cos, when family lacks finance and my dad kept picking fights with my mum, my mum will of course be frustrated. Then she will punish us and scold us whenever she feels frustrated by the kids running around in the 2-room flat at home. I remember how she used to tie 2 canes together and caned me till both my legs were swollen with cane marks. She used to ask us to kneel down for 4-5 hours at the door step or at the kitchen, when we were mischievious. (that explains why we didn't study too... hahaha) When kneeling on the floor doesn't help, she will take the beer bottle caps and ask us to kneel on them. Painful as it is, smart as we are, we will obviously not kneel on the sharp edges of the bottle caps. haha..

There was this once that my mum actually slapped in front of my neighbours at the corridor of my hse, just because the neighbour staying beside maligned me of saying something that I didn't say at all. That was a very bad one for me.

If I had not known Christ, I think I will not be able to forgive my mum. There were just too many things to hold against her. Who would expect a 13-yr old girl to start working outside and be bullied by the older colleagues at workplace etc. Who was there to protect and who was there to deliver trust at that point in time? I think God really pulled me out of the storm and brought me to the safe land, helping me to stand firm on my feet and walk on the right path. I could have ended up becoming astrayed also. That possibility was really high.

Will there be forgiveness? Will there be trust?

If not for God, I think I would still be a confused girl going around, looking for friends who can provide security, jobs that could provide stability etc.

I thank God for bringing me from where I was to where I am now. I know that I have thanked God many times but I cannot help but to thank Him again and again and again and again... Till I see Him face to face, I will still keep on thanking Him again...

Thank you Jesus for saving me from the pit. Thank you Lord. :)

Running to the Lord for help

It has been a tremendous period of time lately as things at home aren't that smooth-sailing at all. As much as I want to stay cool and fix my eyes on the Lord, my heart just doesn't feel that steady after all. I know that God is in control and I believe so. But it would be even better if my family believe in the same faith as I do.

I've been praying to the Lord for many weeks, months and years, for my family to know the Lord. And I know that one day they will be knowing Him. I want them to know His love, grace and mercy, which is ever so abundant and never runs out of stock, ever.

I wish for more peace and endurance in the family. I wish for joy and fulfillment. I wish for meaningful and purposeful lives in this generation, which God has placed me in to make a difference.

I want to run, run to the Lord, for strength and wisdom, ability to communicate, providence and support..for everything. I know that I can't do all these by myself because only God can. If I can do all these, why would I still need God? In fact, I might as well be the "super-woman" in the entire universe. But I am not super. I am just a mere human.

If I have not known the Lord, I do not think that I will be where I am today.

God is my precious treasure and I will by all means protect this relationship that I have with Him today, tomorrow and forevermore. :)

The Tan Siblings

The Tan Siblings

Yesh, introducing to you the pretty, handsome, attractive, charismatic, mischievious, active, hyper, sporty, full of energy kids in the family... the Tan Siblings!!

Please do not undermine the power of these kids. They have the power to raise your blood pressure to the peak, make you speechless and at times kill your appetite for food! However, the most angelic time of the day is of cos, when they were all sleeping!! How amazing is that!!

From top to bottom is my youngest nephew Timothy, Angel and the one with the most "欠qian4打da3" face is my eldest nephew, Gabriel. haha...

Sometimes, as the aunt, I really discipline for their behavior. Although this should be their parents' job, the parents are also busy at work that they are unable to witness their devilish behavior at home. And scheming they are, they behave in such a obedient manner in a very convincing fashion, that their parents will never know of their "monkey" acts when they weren't around. haha...

Although they are mischievious, they are still kids aren't they? I truly hope that these 3 will grow up to know the Lord and understand God's plan for them. As I am not at home nowadays, I really hope that they will really behave and learn their ways in an obedient manner. That is why HopeKids play such an important role!

I won't be able to see them until 2 weeks later. I think I will really miss them a lot!!

Hope Kids with Angel and Gab!

I've been bringing my nephew, Gabriel and my niece, Angel to Hope Kids for almost 4 weeks. They have been enjoying themselves and my niece seems to understand what has been taught and preached. As for my nephew, haha, I don't know if he understands cos every time I asked him to share what he has learnt, he will always reply with a "don't know" answer.

haha... anyway, here are a few pics that I took when they were on the bus transport.

This is Gabriel...

This is Natalie, their bus-mate...

My Mum is Attached!!

Yes! You are not reading a wrong title.. my mum is attached witha boyfriend now! hohoho... I was surprised that I discovered in Sept that my mum is secretly on the phone all the time.. I was obviously not sensitive to her secret calls...but then when I got to know it, I realised that I was the last member to find out.. even my maid knew it before me... alamak!! So I am S.L.O.W...

Anyway, after her divorce with my dad in 2004, I am glad that she finally found another man who can be her companion. I am even happier that I met him on the Deepavali holiday that just passed. He is a very gentlemanly guy and he speaks good english. Most imptly, my mum and him have a very cute way of communication. My mum and him will speak mandarin, but he in his very broken mandarin will often make my mum laugh. In return, he will teach my mum english... haha... wat a creative way to know one another...

Anyway I am going to slp now.. tmr I will be bringing my nephew n niece to church.

Gd nite peeps!

Gabriel's Blood Platelets

ok. I shall keep this post short..

My nephew, Gabriel, has been admitted to hospital because of low blood platelets. The highest or normal blood platelets count can go up to 150 but after blood test ydae, he only had 7 in count.

I am kinda distressed by all these health issues that are going on in my family. Frankly speaking, I am really not sure how much more can I take. I need to trust God of cos, this has always been in my mind.

But I think now, I can literally feel the kind of stress and disturbance that Job had... I am definitely not in a worse situation than he was in. Well, I think I can only identify with his feelings.

Please pray that Gabriel will be fine. He is only 5 years old and he is a super hyper boy. Can't afford any knocks and bleeding... there are a lot of bruises and tiny red spots on his body now. And there is blood in his urine.. please keep praying that his blood platelets count will increase. Today, a blood specialist will be seeing his case. Hope that everything will be fine. Most imptly, I pray that my family will know God soon. Just can't bear this burden on my shoulders anymore. Can only claim Matt 11:28-30.

I didn't know how to write the title for this entry. It is not easy to blog an entry like this, especially when someone dear to you is not doing well in health. I think I am just in distraught. I don't know what to do and how to do... It is depressing. Moreover, I'm facing loads of stress at work.. though I will be going to BKK this friday, I wonder if I will really enjoy the trip.

Ydae night, my brother returned from work with my sister-in-law. When I saw him, I was so disturbed... cos he was in much pain. He told me that he couldn't walk properly and his entire right leg is so painful... What I can do now perhaps, is to keep his health in prayers. I really hope that he will be healthy.

"Lord, may you protect my brother in his health and keep him from harm. I pray that he will really come to know you and your love for him. It is only You that can grant him comfort and strength. May I pray that he will come to realise your healing power as he will experience it soon and very soon. And I pray that you will give me peace and faith to believe in greater miracles, beyond what I understand. In Christ's name, I submit everything unto your will, Amen!"

A Drama Took Place

It was a night of fears and uncertainties. Tuesday night, I was already sleeping soundly in my bed when my sister-in-law ran into my room shouting for help. She was exclaiming that my brother fainted in the kitchen. My mum jumped out of bed and I was still unclear of the trauma. Thought that it was only a dream. But when I woke up, I ran to the kitchen, only to find that my brother was lying there, unconscious. I ran up to him, and there he was, looking pale and unable to respond when I called out for him.

I kept calling him, "Kor, kor... how are you feeling now?" in mandarin. He was only trying very hard to open his eyes, but he couldn't, his breathing was slow and he doesn't even have the strength to speak. His body was cold and perspiring and I don't how else I can help, but to put some medicated oil and massage him, fanning him. I was utterly confused, my mind unable to accept what was happening then. Looking on, my mum and sis-in-law were crying and I have to take on the role of comfort as well.

I have had plenty of questions in my mind. The only man in the household collapsed. And I have to learn to be calm and stable, so that I can handle the things and situation then. I controlled my tears. I asked if the ambulance is reaching. When I saw the ambulance coming (from the window of my kitchen), I quickly ran out of the house, directing the paramedics to my house. So after a long night of trauma, tears and prayers, God protected my brother from harm and danger. I thank God for Him answering my prayers. I am also thankful for the many who prayed for my brother and my family, especially Shirley, who prayed for me upon receiving my call. The 10 cents call is counted worthy afterall...as the rest were sleeping already? haha...

Though I can't convincingly say that I am already ok emotionally, I am thankful that all these are over. The doctor wasn't able to diagnose the reason for his blackout. But I guess that what is more important is that he is feeling much better now. This incident brought the whole family closer than before. I am thankful that we are knitted closer than before.

For now, I can only keep praying for my family's salvation and that is my only wish. Pray also for me.. I am overwhelmed by all these happenings. Even though, I might look ok outwardly but deep inside, there are many battles within me. Thanks for your prayers full of care and love. Appreciate tt a lot!

Beautiful Flowers!

Took some photos of the flowers outside my flat... all these are my mum's precious possession. haha... she is a flower lover... and after the few days of rain last week, I guess that the water has fed the plants well.. and the flowers bloomed!

Though having to work on Sat, that morning was especially happy cos the flowers made me smile...

The most beautiful thing is this, the flowers are still alive and growing... And they are all God's beloved creation... :p

~Timothy Tan~

My new nephew has a Christian name now and his name is Timothy Tan! woo... cool name he has!! He weighed 3.5kg when he was born and he really holds the weight in my family man... I just hope if my bro will not spoil him next time when he grows up... or else, I will have a lot of counselling cases at home siah... hahaha... kidding only la... :p

Timothy says, "don't know why kor kor and jie jie laughing so happily... look at their face... i can't see their eyes at all... " hahaha...
He has just turned one month 3-4 days back. And my nephew and niece, Gabriel and Angel (respectively), are still so captivated by their younger brother. They were so keen to take pictures with their brother.

I just hope that they will really set good examples for the little one to follow. Though he is just a month old, still, we have concluded that he has really a fiery temper man. hahaha...

Oh ya, hope to bring my nephew and niece for Hope Tots soon... they need some good fellowship with the kids!! hohoho...

Greetings by Junwei!

This is going to be my first entry here in this blog and the little one greeting you here is my baby Nephew Junwei. He is born on 24 July 2006 and is currently 2 weeks old.

So what is his forte?? For all babies as you know, they know only how to eat, sleep, eat, sleep n cry in the middle of nights!! haha... but isn't he adorable??

Everytime I carry him, I will be reminded of how God carry me in His arms when I am weak and fragile. That is how God is bringing me around. Definitely, there will be times that I will be learning how to crawl, walk and be running on... But God's hand always heals, protects and embraces me at the right time!

Ok, so this is baby Junwei... I am still thinking of his Christian name.. anyone have any suggestions here?? haha... more entries will be coming soon here... so watch out!!
