i am sure you heard all of us tell you that you need to
"drink your water"!
and regardless of if you do hot yoga every day or not,
water is essential for our bodies.
did you know that by the time we feel thirsty,
we are already a little bit dehydrated?
did you know that we are sweating *all* the time?
in the hustle and bustle of our busy lives, we often forget about
one of the most important things for our health - water!
the human body is 60-80% water.
when the body is dehydrated, its systems cannot function properly.
even bowel movements are effected by how much water we drink!
it is generally recommended to drink 2 liters of water each day.
what i like to do is have a *big* glass of water first thing in the
morning and drink throughout the day as much as possible.
i always keep a water bottle nearby!
TIP #1 - add a little something to your water
to ensure that the water is actually "soaking" into your system,
add a slice of lime or lemon or even, yes, a tiny bit of sea salt.
TIP #2 - distilled water vs mineral water
please do note that is better to drink tap water or mineral water
than "distilled" water. distilled water has been "cleaned"
so there is absolutely nothing it in. if you are drinking
distilled water, you are not replenishing any minerals.
even though "distilled" water is cheaper,
it is not so good for replenishment. or add a bit of "sea salt"
(must be "sea salt" normal table salt is not good for you!)
TIP #3 - are you getting headaches? time to "replenish"
and, finally, if you experience slight headaches after class
(don't worry, it's very common), it's normally because you have
sweated out a lot of minerals (sodium, potassium)
& need to replace them. these can be easily replenished
with 100Plus or Gatorade.
or try a coconut - it's nature's sports drink!
or i like to eat a bit of seaweed (seriously -
seaweed has lots of important "trace elements/minerals"!)
try to korean seaweed ...
comes toasted, pre-cut in little packets. very yummy, too.
TIP #4 - do tea, coffee, juices etc count?
generally, it's best to drink 2 liters of *plain* water per day.
there are some studies that show all liquids help hydrate the body.
but, caffeine is a slight diruetic (which makes you pee more)
which makes your body lose more water - which defeats the point!
so, try to get as much regular, plain water as possible.
it's really the best way.

I woke up this morning at 7am having a very bad abdominal pain. It was a hopeless pain. Reminded me of the pains that I had few years back when I had stone in my gall bladder. So I tried to tolerate until I couldn't any longer. I ended up vomiting. It didn't end for the first round. It went on to 2nd and 3rd. It was bad. My tummy was very bloated and I couldn't really move around but to lie on my bed. That was a very bad one.
Well, everyone left home for work and I thought I could see a doctor on my own. But in the end, I couldn't take it any more and I called the ambulance myself. The ambulance came in 10 mins time and came to bring me to NUH. The pain did not improve and I started diarrhea-ing when I reached the hospital. Diarrheas, vomiting, pain... I almost thought that I am going to die. I can't even maneuver the wheelchair myself.
Anyway, I saw the doctor only an hour later and I was feeling so bad already. The Doctor took my blood for test and the needle was very big... man... Plus the fact that I saw my blood oozing out of the tube, that I felt even more sianz... my blood... then the nurse gave me an injection and put me on drip of 1 litre of sodium chloride and another litre of don't know what liquid. Took medication and stayed at the observation ward for almost 3-4 hours.
The doctor said that my blood showed signs of infection... but don't know where... haiz.. anyway, hope that there won' be any more complications soon. :) The doctor concluded that I had stomach flu and I have 2 days of MC for now. Thanks to all who have shown concern, before and after. Perhaps, it is really that God wants me to have a good rest ba.

Ha!! Back to my comfort zone here... the best place for me to voice my plights! :p
The recent backache, shoulder aches, headaches and neck aches have all come back to me at one go. Tough body I have ya? haha..
So what have I been up to lately? I've actually tendered my resignation the day after National Day... guess that National Day has done me well! Decided to tender due to the lack of time to do my ministry stuff for God and also the lack of rest... Age is really catching up. Seriously speaking, I think the aches are really so bad that I might need to go and see a specialist. I know that it is going to be super duper bad right?!? Cos going to a specialist is always so ex and costly!
But still, whenever I think of making the decision to leave, I felt so so at peace. I know that there is still quite a fair bit of uncertainties ahead of me but why worry when life is simply so short? i'm not going to spend the rest of my eternity working and worrying la!
I'm just so excited abt my upcoming 26th bdae!! Can't believe that I am turning 26 this year!! Feel like a kid still... hahaha... well, it is abt time that I need to work hard for other areas in my life... one key area is to keep my body
TRIM and
FIT!! Dunnoe when will this happen... hopefully
SOON bah!!
